The Eloise Story

From the pages of a book to the halls of The Plaza, meet the girl who started it all. What began as Kay Thompson's beloved book character, brought to life by illustrator Hilary Knight, is now the spirited heart of our pink tinted world at The Plaza.

Meet Eloise

Eloise is six. She lives at The Plaza (on the tippy-top floor, of course) and turns everyday moments into marvelous adventures. Her world is full of imagination, wit, and just the right amount of mischief. Her story invites children and grown-ups alike to see the hotel, and the city, as a playground for curiosity and delight.

Step Into The World Of Eloise

From her infamous portrait in The Plaza's grand corridors, to her perfectly pink bedroom, Eloise makes every corner a stage for make-believe. Visits to our spectacular shop, tea time in the Palm Court, and special events bring her world to life, so families can step into the story and create Plaza memories of their own.

How the Story Began

First published in 1955, Eloise introduced a new kind of heroine: bold, funny, and fabulously herself. Kay Thompson's voice and Hilary Knight's illustrations made Eloise instantly unforgettable. Since then, she’s become a cultural icon and the most legendary six-year-old to ever grace the halls of The Plaza.

Xoxo, Eloise at The Plaza

Today, Eloise lives on in keepsakes and essentials designed for play, parties, and cozy moments at home. From robes and bath to books and bundles, every piece brings a wink of Plaza polish--and a lot of pink--to the everyday.
